Focus and Scope

Tanzania Zamani journal is the official publication of the History Department, University of Dar es Salaam and the Historical Association of Tanzania (HAT). The journal promotes historical thinking through research and writing on Tanzania. In particular, we are interested in articles that invoke African agency in African history and challenge conventional colonial and postcolonial assumptions. Tanzania Zamani is registered in EBSCO databases, is indexed with https://crossref.org and has an international editorial board. In 2018, it emerged the best journal in the College of Humanities, University of Dar es Salaam. It was also awarded a certificate of excellence by the University of Dar es Salaam during the annual research week in 2018. The journal digital online identification (DOI) number 10.56279/TZA2021.

Peer Review Process

Tanzania Zamani publishes the highest quality historical writing and research from virtual all disciplines. The Tanzania Zamani's rigorous interdisciplinary peer review seeks to contribute to the development of scholarly conversations of interest to the diverse readers and to the growth of historical research in Tanzania and in a global comparative context. A submitted manuscript passes through two blind peer reviewers who will submit their assessment to the editorial team for decision and communication to authors. The typical time taken for peer review process is between three and five months. The reviewers are recruited by the editorial team subject to the theme and research area of the received article manuscript.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
