We are pleased to inform our esteemed authors, reviewers, editors, readers and other interested persons and institutions that we recently revised the guidelines (instructions) for authors for purposes of improvements of the journal. We decided to make minor changes in the journal styles, especially on the title and headings and updated the other parts such as on references. The title of the paper will be presented in bold title cases. The first-level headings (e.g., Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements and References) will be in bold title cases, while the second-level headings will be in bold sentence cases. The scientific names and proper nouns will be presented applying the international standard rules/styles. Other notable improvements have included adding new guidelines on language, ethical guidelines, declaration of interest, peer review process and submission checklist. These changes are effective from Volume 44 No. 4–Special Issue of 2018. The revised instructions are found at the end of this issue and have been published online at the websites of the journal. Authors are strongly advised to strictly adhere to the instructions during preparation, submission and revisions of the manuscripts. The Tanzania Journal of Science, as an international journal, will continue to publish high quality contributions on original works in the fields of pure and applied sciences as full research articles, review papers and short communications. It is anticipated that the editorial board of the journal will ensure that the journal continues to provide the international scientists, communities and stakeholders with an authoritative organ for the dissemination of research findings and enjoyable wider readership and visibility for the sake of advancing knowledge, science and technology. The journal will continue to be published both in online and print versions and will have at least two issues per year.
