This special issue is a compilation of articles from a conference on Library and Information Science research in Tanzania which was held from 11th to 12th of December 2014, at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It includes most of the papers that were presented at the conference. The ideas presented in the proceedings aimed at opening areas for further research and investigation. The papers from this special edition therefore provide an avenue and setting for sharing LIS research findings in Tanzania
